Craftsmanship behind the scenes

Our brewery

As an urban brewery in Genk, BRAUW is a meeting place for anyone with a passion for beer. Ready to roll up your sleeves and get brewing yourself? We’ll support and guide you throughout the creation of your very own beer.

Unique concept

BRAUW is a unique concept in Belgium, offering you the opportunity to brew your own beer. If needed, brewer Joris Mentens is more than happy to offer guidance and advice. You take full responsibility for creating a beer that reflects your own choices and actions — all within a clear set of guidelines and agreements for using and cleaning our equipment.

Our brewing system

Our brewery houses two brewing systems: a 100-litre setup used exclusively for test batches, and a 500-litre installation where most of our beers — including contract brews — are produced.

Our Brewiks system stands out for its simplicity, compact design, and mobility.

Our brewery

The system consists of two parts:

Mash tun / boil kettle

This kettle is electrically heated via a fluid in the double walls. A single pump circulates the wort within the kettle, ensuring an even temperature distribution. The temperature is controlled by a computerised system.

Lauter tun / whirlpool

This smaller vessel is equipped with filter plates and a tangential inlet. This allows a whirlpool to be created after boiling, helping to separate and leave behind solid particles in the kettle.

A unique beer experience

As a homebrewer at BRAUW, you gain more than just technical skills and knowledge. The brewing process itself is an unforgettable experience. Think of the joy of creating something together, the pleasure of a good conversation while the fermentation quietly does its work — and of course, the moment suprême, when the first bottle cap pops off. In short: it’s not just about the final product — the journey there is just as captivating.

At BRAUW, brewing your own beer takes on a meaning of its own.

It stands for craftsmanship, innovation, and above all: your story — captured in a glass, foam crown or not.
